Sportsman's Corner

In the Clubhouse, there was an area referred to as "Sportsman's Corner". It showed a photo gallery of Sports Club members who had been nominated by their respective sections or committees to recognise their particular achievements for the Sports & Social Club.

30 meritorious years as a Committee member and leading exhibitor in the Horticultural Section

R.G. BISHOP

Active member of the Rifle/Pistol Section from 1920. Member of the Rifle & Pistol Committee from 1937. Chairman of the Rifle & Pistol Section 1947 - 1971. Member of Sports Club General Committee 1948 - 1953. 1956 - 1959 and from 1963

R.J .(Bert) BULLOCH

40 years valuable service to the Football Section as a player, Committee man and Treasurer

Committee member and player for Bowls Section 1920 - 1961.

In recognition of loyal service to the Football Section 1949 - 1980 as player and committee member, including 21 years as secretary.

In recognition of loyal service 1939 - 1981, 42 years as player and committee member including 30 years as chairman of the Football Section.

In recognition of long and valuable service to the Sports Club, serving many years on the General and Clubhouse Management Committees

A.W. JONES

1st X1 Cricket Captain for 21 seasons 1927 - 1947. Regular member of the team for 39 seasons 1922 - 1960.

General Secretary, Westwood Works Sports Club 1920 - 1965

H. PULFORD

Member of Bowls Section for 40 years representing the club in the League 1935 - 1969. Bowls secretary for 12 years. Secretary Retired Members 1967 - 1976

 

J.R.B. SMYTHE

In recognition of faithful service to the Sports Club as a player in Hockey, Cricket and Tennis and as an administrator in various club activities

D.C. SUMMERLIN

In recognition of long and faithful service to the Sports Club, with particular reference to athletics and horticulture both as a performer - exhibitor and administrator
