One well-attended and eagerly awaited event was the Firework Display, held each year on the Apprentice Sports Ground. Organised by the Baker Perkins Fire Brigade, who ensured a safe event, it featured a huge bonfire behind the Pattern Shop, an impressive fireworks display and food and drink stalls. It is difficult to say who had most fun, the children of employees or the members of the Fire Brigade!
